Earl Tillman, 2012 Board of Governors Award Recipient

EARL TILLMAN

 earltillmanOriginally from Blackshear, Georgia, Earl came to Rome to attend the Mt. Berry School for Boys. He graduated in 1952.  He attended Jacksonville University and the University of Florida before serving in the Us Army.

His community service has included:

-First Baptist Church
Life Deacon
Teaches Sunday School Class at Church and High Rise

– Civil Air Patrol
Commander of Civil Air Patrol-teaches leadership skills to adults and young people
Participates in Search and Rescue Missions

Private Pilot
-Certified Flight Instructor
-Aviation School
-Has made emergency flights for families
–  Works with local Boy Scouts to obtain aviation badges

-Airport Commission
– Alumni President to at Berry college
-Assistant to the president , Scott Colley at Berry College
– Distinguished Service Award from Berry College
–  Past President of Kiwanis Club
– Public Motivational Speaker

Married to Carolyn Tillman, they had two children-one daughter, Tamara Tillman Smathers and a son, Gary Tillman who is deceased.
